[REVIEW] Faux Thigh High Cat Tights

Hello everyone! Today marks the day of Minty Castle's opening. ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ

Our first review is on Cat Tights! Who doesn't know what cat tights are by now, honestly? They're super cute and have been trending since around the summer of 2014.

 

We both purchased our tights from eBay, and they took around two weeks to get from China to the US.

(For reference, Victoria is 5'7" while Hina is 5'4".)
Although these tights were produced in Asia, there's so much fabric that the tights would easily fit someone from the west. So much fabric, really, that Vic can hike the tights all the way up to her bust. But on the other hand, if you have wider hips or fatter legs, it'll probably fit you pretty normally and stop around your hip/low waist area.

The tights are reasonably thick and won't rip just from putting them on. They aren't thick enough to be winter tights if you live in a place where the winters are cold, like New York, but you could likely wear them into the fall. (Though if you layered them with fur boots or another pair of socks, it might work depending on the severity of the weather.)

One thing I noticed is that even if you buy from the same seller, you might end up missing a thing or two on your tights. My tights didn't have cat tails on the back, while Vic's do. This isn't a deal breaker for me, really, but if you love the swishy little tails that adorn the back, you should know you could end up with a pair that don't have them.

Another thing I noticed is the skin color part of the tights is very opaque. If you're darker skinned and liked the way that the tights looked kind of like tattoo tights, you'll likely be out of luck. I didn't mind so much, but if you don't want the disparity between the color of your arms and your tights, these might not be for you.

My other complaint is that when I actually wore them, I kept feeling like they slipped down if I went from sitting to standing, or vice versa. This is more because of how low the tights sit on me, but if you have hips and thighs/legs on the chubbier side, this is something to consider.  

Also, if your legs are really thin, the cats are probably going to come up higher on your thighs which will make wearing these with longer shorts or skirts difficult unless you don't mind having to pull them down near your ankles a bit.
Overall, though, the tights are really cute and I'd recommend them if you don't mind any of the issues we've mentioned. (The compliments you get from little children make it so worth it, though.)

Don't let sizing discourage you from buying these. The fitting range given by sellers is not 100% accurate.

Pros

☆Reasonably thick fabric, not as likely to rip easily

☆Fitting range is a bit more lax than expected, so it'd fit on more people.

Cons

☆Opaque skin color portion, which can look odd if your skintone doesn't match.
☆Differences between tights, even if sold by the same seller.
☆Excess fabric that needs to be pulled all the way up to get the correct appearance if you're on the thinner and taller side.
☆Slides down during movement at times if you're on the thicker side.

Vic would repurchase this if sold by a different seller that stuck more closely to what the cat tights are supposed to look like.

Unfortunately, the seller we bought the Cat Tights from no longer sells them, but you can find them easily on both amazon and ebay!
